Estate Tip: Why Buy when you can Rent a Coffin

Why buy a coffin for a 1 day viewing? Coffins or caskets can cost $5,000. In some cases, the family member that passed never spent that much on a car their entire life.

Note: coffin or not, a corpse being buried must be put in a water tight vault for North Carolina cemeteries. A pine box will work just as well as a $5000 coffin in the vault.

So this sounds a little curt, but why not just rent the coffin? I thought about that as a business but looks like some frugal, wise business person can rest in peace on being first: https://www.everplans.com/articles/save-money-on-a-funeral-with-a-rental-casket

Pardon the morbidity.

B&G Pie Company back in business

After a short hiatus dealing with issues at the old location, B&G Pies is back and baking in Winston-Salem. B&G has been baking pies since 1949. Chocolate, Apple, Cherry, Lemon and Peach are the flavors. These pies are superior to Hostess and other wannabees.

“The above link includes the North Carolina Supreme Court’s 15 page opinion that ruled that the NCDOT took property owners property in the Northern Beltway of Winston-Salem, Forsyth County. This has a similar effect for property owners in the Raleigh 540 Southern Expressway, Fayetteville Outerloop, Shelby 74 Bypass, and Greensboro Outerloop.”
